Marcona Almonds from Spain
Spanish Gastro Larder
Spanish Marcona Almonds are called the "Queen of Nuts" and are regarded as the "supreme champion" in the nut world. They are highly appreciated for their size, shape, taste and nutritious qualities.
These delicious nuts taste fantastic already roasted with extra virgin olive oil and a pinch of salt. They're crunchy, tasty and on cold winter evenings are ideal with a glass of wine.
Marconas come from South Eastern Spain and are a new variety developed only about twenty years ago. They are flatter and more rounded than standard almonds and are sweet, buttery, mild and packed with rich oils.
Once you have tasted our Marconas, you’ll want them every day as a snack, on salads, pasta, meat or fish.
Try This Delicious Recipe with Rosemary and Truffle Salt
One cup of Marconas.
Half a tablespoon of fresh rosemary, finely chopped.
Truffle salt to taste.
Heat a wok over a medium heat and add the almonds, rosemary and the truffle salt. Stir carefully until the rosemary becomes beautifully fragrant.
Lightly roast, to unlock their flavour and make them crispier - It should take no longer than three to five minutes. Serve piping hot to your guests.
Here is Another Scrumptious Idea as Suggested by Jamie Oliver . . .
Rinse your Marcona Almonds carefully under the tap and while still moist roll them in lots of icing sugar. Then roast until golden and use them to garnish ice-cream, tarts, or even mix them in with fresh fruit salads.
Spice Them Up!
Whisk together egg white, salt, cumin, and paprika in a bowl. Then add almonds and toss to coat. Spread the almonds evenly on baking sheet and roast them until golden. It will take about 20 minutes. Then transfer the nuts on to some parchment, or a rack and let them cool completely. (The almonds will crisp up as they cool).
